Little League

Last night my associate and I went two blocks over and watched a little league game. The score was 7-2 when we got there, and within half an hour, the losing team had fought back and come within one run of tying the score. The bases were loaded with two out, when the batter hit a ground ball right to the second baseman. He tagged the runner coming from first and the game was over.

Besides the game itself, the overall environment was refreshing for the two of us. The sound of the bat connecting with the ball, the lights shinning bright on a field of grass, parents and grandparents cheering on their heritage--all of it graced us. The thing we appreciated most was the guy seated next to us. He even cheered for the opposing team's batters when they came up to the plate. What a lesson: Life is not as much about winning or losing, as it is about making sure that everyone is encouraged and celebrated. This is how life should be lived in every home, office, and athletic engagement.
