the day

Today is Shannon's birthday. We are in Georgia, celebrating the special moment with Shannon's parents, siblings, nieces, and the lone nephew. A few hours ago we ate burgers and fries from a restaurant known for those tastes--a restaurant she remembers eating in when she was a little girl. At the moment, there are several of us hoping the area's thunderstorm warning will be lifted. (Actually, the nieces and nephew just ran through my peripheral vision shouting that the outdoor climate has transformed, and swimming is now available!)

The planned menu for the rest of the day is a late dinner, chocolate cake, and a continued celebration with one special lady--one great friend and wife.
