Tourism and friends

Friday and Saturday were spent touring nearby nationally renowned attractions. On Friday, we went back to Hershey, only this time to take in a bit of the town. We started out the day with a tour of Chocolate World, where we watched a 3-D presentation about Hershey's, attended a chocolate tasting event, and took a tour that took us through the Chocolate Factory and presented a step by step orientation of how the various chocolates are made.

We then went over to the Hershey Museum and learned a great deal of Milton Hershey's (the founder of Hershey's) life, as well as the development of the chocolate world and the unique town of Hershey. We also saw an Apostolic Clock in the museum, of which there are only four in existence today. At a quarter of an hour, it has a religious-themed procession with Jesus and his 12 disciples, and even the devil, coming out of the clock and performing a ceremony based on the last days of Christ. And before leaving for the day, we found that the legend is true: You can smell chocolate in Hershey.

On Saturday we went to Gettysburg to meet up with a college friend of Shannon's, Tiffani, and her husband, Lee. We enjoyed so much our time with them, and I know Shannon loved being able to take a walk back in time and visit with a good friend. We saw, among other things, the Gettysburg National Cemetery where the location of Lincoln's famed Gettysburg address occurred. We ended the night taking a tour that told tales of the local folklore throughout Gettysburg. We're glad that we're finally checking some things off our our "To Do in PA".
