On one of our treks through our trail, we were going at a nice little clip, chatting with each other, when I noticed a couple of bikes headed our way. Shortly before they got to us, one of the bicyclists let out a, "Whow!", and swerved abruptly. All 4 of us looked to see what he almost hit, and there coiled up on the path was a Copperhead. Yikes. Sean and I headed on the opposite side of the path very carefully and got out of there, while we left the two guys on bicycles staring at the snake. I think they might have eventually thrown it out into the woods again, as it wasn't there on the way back. Needless to say, we keep an open eye out now as we're traversing our woods.
